So you’ve probably heard of Max Trub or Max Trubitski from his ads before, on helping you with your dropshipping business.
And now, like me, you can’t help but to wonder “is Max Trubitski a scam?” or “is this 18 year old guy is legit?”.
The minute I knew that he’s only 18 years old, the scam lightbulb turned on rather instantly in my head.
So I knew I just had to dig deep into who he is, what he does and whether it’s worth it for any of us to listen to this young guy claiming to be making millions in e-commerce dropshipping.
Before I get more into that, just a quick disclaimer that I’m by no means associated with Max Trubitski or any of his courses. I’m not an affiliate.
Therefore, I’m really not getting any kickbacks from you buying his course or doing this review, k?
I’ll present you what I’ve found about him and his course and at the end of the post, I’ll share with you my take on the dropshipping business model, why I left dropshipping and what I’m currently doing now to earn side income.
Now that we get that out of the way, let’s get started!
Is Max Trubitski a scam? Here’s the truth…
Here are what I’ll be talking about Max Trubitski in this review:

Fake Guru Red Flags
Before I start with my review of Max Trubitski, I want to share the video below on how you can detect some red flags from online “gurus” out there.
The red flags don’t necessarily mean that they are all scams, but you might want to be careful with the courses that they offer.
Who Is Max Trubitski?
Max Trubitski is an 18-year-old boy/guy who claimed to have unlocked the secrets to building a profitable and highly successful dropshipping business.
Some of his claims is to be able to rack in $100,000 in profit with his dropshipping stores.
He said that it took him 2.5 years to master the process and all this time learning the tricks and the business concept all for free on YouTube.
That kinda made me think that if he could actually build this business to success solely by watching YouTube, anyone out there can do the same thing too, right?
There are also articles mentioning that he’s a successful entrepreneur who’s a philanthropist, a world-traveller, and an amazing business coach.
And… just so you know many of the things are still unverified.
Anyway, you might have seen him in a lot of press like entrepreneur.com or Yahoo Finance but do know that many of the articles can be bought.
If you have a good PR agency that can help you do that, well, you can. I’m not saying that he did pay but do take all these with a grain of salt.
I’ll share more below on this in the next couple of section in this post.
Now that he’s said to be successful with e-commerce dropshipping, he started his own marketing agency teaching others how to excel in the same way as he did and he also released a book that you can get on Amazon called 7 Figures by 17.
I have not read that book and honestly, I’m not planning to.
If you do want to, you can check out the review on Amazon first. It’s not a bad idea to pick up his book before committing hundreds of dollars to his course.
I will share more about his social media accounts and whatnot later in this post.
But before I get to that, let’s just run though what his famous course is all about.
Max Trubitski’s Courses Overview
There are several products that Max has produced.
He had released a book, done-for-you Shopify stores, some video trainings, as well as his famous High Ticket University course.
As many of the testimonials shared on his YouTube channel are on his high-ticket course, let’s focus on that.
High Ticket University Review
This is a course that can you take step-by-step on how to create your own dropshipping business from scratch.
It’s priced at $997 but you can also get the discounted rate at $197. Which to me is kinda a red flag with that amount of a discount given.
Anyway, the course covers:
- Business mindset
- Product Research
- Website & Brand Building
- Influencer Marketing
- Facebook Ads
- Backend tasks to do on Shopify
- Google Ads
One thing that the course claims to be different is that it teaches you to sell high-ticket items. Meaning that instead of having low profit margin, you’ll be able to get more profit simply by selling higher ticket product.
Which in theory, is not at all wrong.
But, you also have to know that higher ticket products come with its own set of barriers.
Some of them includes;
- You will need to establish a relationship with your customers first before they decide to buy from you.
- Your cost per acquisition is also a lot higher.
- You need to take into account shipping rate, shipping time, and shipping risk a lot more.
- Your chargeback or refunds are going to be higher with more expensive products because customers will be expecting flawless products.
- And with dropshipping, you don’t have the quality control.
There are other cheaper dropshipping courses out there that you can take that I’m sure will give you a lot more value.
Also, there are free YouTube videos that you can watch to know how to actually sell high-ticket items when dropshipping.
That said, before you jump straight into the dropshipping business, you do need to be aware of these 4 ugly truths that only people who’ve done dropshipping know.
But, before we get into that, let’s answer the question of the day.
Is Max Trubitski A Scam? Should You Trust Him?
There are a lot of red flags on Max Trubitski.
And unfortunately, I cannot say that he’s not a scam. There are multiple students of his complaining that they didn’t even get the course materials that they’ve purchased.
To me, that’s just out of line.
These is a thread of comments from his students not being able to access the course materials:
Apart from this, there are other things that made me very hesitant to trust him:
1) He came with a lot of different aliases
When I saw his ads, he went by the name of Max Trub. And then there’s Max Trubitski (so maybe this is his real full name).
But then, there’s Max Trubitsky, Maxim Trubitski, and Ecom Max. Recently it’s Ecom Bundle.
It’s just hard to catch up and that made me wonder if it’s intentional.
2) His website & social media account are down
The website and his Instagram account are down.
The very website that he promotes on his Facebook is down, along with his other courses’ websites. It’s just a big red flag. Perhaps it’s true that he’s “retiring” but there should still be a way for his past students to access the courses that they’ve paid.
His Instagram account is also no longer there. Now, there’s an account called Ecom Max with only 1 post – which is his logo.
3) Putting ads when he’s been in an accident
There’s an ad that he put up after he got into a ski accident saying that he’ll be retiring and offering a done-for-you Shopify stores to only 20 people.
Spoiler alert, he sold a lot more than that – about 1,000 extra.
To me, it just doesn’t seem genuine at all. I know it’s a marketing gimmick, but I will want to stay as far away from those kind of self-claimed gurus.
I personally cannot vouch for Max Trubitski at all.
Not himself as a coach and not for what he sells – which is a dropshipping course.
That brings me back to the topic of why I left dropshipping and what many “gurus” don’t tell you.
Is Dropshipping Still Worth It?
I know that eCommerce is still growing year by year, especially now that many of us are stuck inside the house, eCommerce has truly changed the game for us.
That said, it doesn’t mean many solo stores like dropshipping can thrive under this eCommerce boom simply because there are giants in the industry like Amazon that can guarantee shipping time and offer a lot more variety within a single receipt.
Here are 4 reasons why I no longer think dropshipping busines is still worth it:
1) Only When You Have Capital
Dropshipping is really NOT for someone who is strapped with money. There are so many other expenses that you will need to pay such as:
– Shopify hosting
– Domain name
– Transaction Fee
– Facebook Ads
– Instagram Influencer
– Additional paid apps
So, unless you have AT LEAST $3,000 to spare to start this business model, dropshipping unfortunately is not for you.
You’ll be spending at least $2,000 to get started with Facebook Ads – and that won’t even guarantee any sales coming in.
2) Vicious Cycle
If you argue that you will be able to take home $2,000/mo if you get to make $10,000/mo, I’m sorry to break it down to you but that $2,000 will need to be re-invested to find another winning product and be spent for Facebook Ads testing.
This is one of the biggest reasons I quit dropshipping.
A lot of beginners are not aware of this vicious cycle and would expect profits coming in within the first few months while spending money like running water.
3) Nightmare Customer Support
With dropshipping, you will not have any control with the production and the shipping of the very products you are selling.
But yet, if there’s any problem with the product or shipping, you will be the middleman trying to resolve this problem.
If you get an unhelpful supplier, there is very little or nothing you can do to resolve customers complaints.
That is one reason many dropshipping stores do not have returning customers.
The worst part is that there might be a lot refunds and chargebacks being lodged and you end up having to return many of the sales back and being banned from your payment gateway.
4) Not The Best Business Model
As I’ve mentioned in 2021, dropshipping isn’t exactly the best business model out there. A lot of people already know the trick of “free product + shipping” and asking them to wait for 2-3 weeks for product delivery is a deal-breaker.
Put yourself in the customer shoe, will you go and buy a product from a store that will take 2-3 weeks to ship the products to you or you’d rather go to Amazon.com and get your products delivered the next day?
I’d go with Amazon.com. And that brings me to the next point.
