Is Ecom Elites A Scam? Franklin Hatchett Course Review 2021

Hey all, welcome to my Ecom Elites dropshipping course review.

I have been putting off from making a review on this course for a while now, because I really want to go through it more in-depth first. And this is simply because I’m personally a fan of Franklin and have been following him since 2016.

I want to put aside any biasness that I might have and really write a proper review of – is Ecom Elites a scam?

Even though I have been a fan of Franklin, I’m not going to profit anything doing this review. Meaning that I have zero ties to the course or Franklin Hatchett himself.

So please know that this will be a full and unbiased review of the Ecom Elites course, for both the Standard & Ultimate packages.

If you’re one of the people who have been following Franklin Hatchett for a while now and wanted to know whether it’s actually worth it to grab his dropshipping course, well, without further ado, let’s get to it!

Is Ecom Elites a scam? No, it’s not.

Ecom Elites Summary

Product: Dropshipping course
Founder: Franklin Hatchett
Website: ecomelites.com
Price: $197 for Standard and $297 for Ultimate
Rating: 85/100
Recommended: Yes
Summary: Ecom Elites is created by Franklin Hatchett, one of the top content creators on YouTube sharing his tips and tricks on running an eCommerce store, affiliate marketing, and many other ways for you to make money online.

In total, the course has over 34 hours length of tutorial videos from the basics of dropshipping business to scaling Facebook Ads.

At only $197, this course is at the lower end or one of the most affordable dropshipping courses out there. But will you get a lot and detail lessons with that amount of money? Let’s figure it out together.

What Is Dropshipping?

Dropshipping is when you promote and sell a third party product without handling the product creation, inventory and shipping.

When an order comes into your store, instead of wrapping and shipping out the products, the wholesaler or supplier will be the one that does the fulfilment.

Therefore, you only really need to focus on the front end and making sure sales are coming in for you to get your “cut”.

The cut is the difference on the retail price minus the wholesale price. If you’d prefer to learn this more through a video and animation, you can watch the video below:

Important to note: Please don’t get mislead with screenshots of sales that these “gurus” are making. Those are sales numbers. It’s typical for dropshipping businesses to only take home 1-20% from the sales.

What Is Ecom Elites?

Before we get into the nitty gritty of the course, let’s first get to know the founder, Franklin Hatchett.

As mentioned earlier, I have been a follower of Franklin back in 2016 when I was still trying to find a legit way to make money online. At that time, Franklin hasn’t come up with Ecom Elites yet – just giving valuable tips on YouTube – which I totally appreciate at that time.

He’s a very straight-to-the-point kinda guy and a lot of his techniques make sense and work – if you’re actually willing to take action. That said, there’s an advice that he gave a few years back and up until now actually in his affiliate marketing course, Savage Affiliates, that I’m just not a fan of.

That is buying backlinks.

It’s a black hat trick and Google hates it. I’m still not sure why exactly Franklin still advocates for this.

But other than that, he’s a pretty cool guy that can share a lot of ideas and tricks that you can do to make money online – even if it’s outside of dropshipping.

Just a brief background, he started his make money online journey by building websites to get ads, then venture into affiliate marketing before going big with dropshipping.

And as he goes big with dropshipping, he comes up with this course where users can learn more on how to start a dropshipping business from start to finish.

I can vouch that he starts as a small YouTuber years ago to now building one of the most top rated dropshipping courses out there.

But what makes the course one of the most top rated?

What Makes Ecom Elites Unique?

is ecom elites a scam

If we were to only look at the Standard package’s modules, there isn’t much difference with other dropshipping courses. It’s a pretty standard dropshipping course.

That said, Franklin really goes through each module in extreme detail, even though they are pretty basic lessons. This is gold to be compared with Simplified Dropshipping course by Scott Hilse by the way.

And to top it off, even with the Standard Package, you will still be able to learn Franklin’s tips on Instagram traffic (influencer), Google SEO, and Chatbot – that not many courses out there offer.

The real gem is if you actually go for the Ultimate package.

You’ll be able to learn how to set up Sales Funnel with ClickFunnels – compared to Ecommerce Empire Builders that teaches sales funnel for a $1,997 price tag.

And you’ll also get the bonus lesson on Google Shopping Ads. Ecom Beast also offers Google Shopping Ads lessons but at a price tag of $547.

How Much Does Ecom Elites Cost?

is ecom elites a scam

Ecom Elites has 2 different packages: Standard and Ultimate.

The Standard package costs $197 while the Ultimate package costs $297.

Both packages will able you to start your dropshipping business the right way. The only difference is that, with Ultimate packages, you will get additional bonus lessons to take your dropshipping business even further:

– Sales Funnel Academy
– Google Shopping Ads Academy
– 7 Figure Funnel
– Franklin’s book: Top Selling 6 Figure Products
– Franklin’s book: Top Selling Niches of All Time

What’s In Ecom Elites?

You will be able to learn how to set up your store from the ground up but in essence, here are the lessons that you will get to learn:

Introduction: eCom and Dropshipping

The first 2 parts of the course is where you’ll get to know what to expect with the course as well as the dropshipping business itself.

He did mention that this course is more suited with beginners (to which I 100% agree) so if you’re not a beginner but just needed a few more strategies up your sleeves, this might not be the course for you.

If this is you though – someone who already has a store but not making sales, to which I had been before, I recommend going through some content on YouTube to really learn why you’re not making sales. Then tweak and test it to your store. This is exactly how I learned last time for free and it actually paid off, even though it takes time for you to research.

Module 1: Sourcing Products and Research

Franklin is big on finding hot products and this is where I have to hats off to him. I personally learned how to source my dropshipping products last time from Franklin.

He does recommend a few different apps and tools for you to get your ideas from.

I actually bought one of the apps he used to recommend last time and it had my life so much easier when I was finding products to fill my Shopify store.

Also, this module alone is 4 hours long. So it’s really in detail and not just a simple trick that you can find with other YouTubers.

Module 2: Setting Up Your Shopify Store

This is pretty much a given – any dropshipping course will teach you how to get your store setup with Shopify.

He also includes lessons to set up your abandoned cart emails, and other processes that you should automate.

Module 3 & Module 4: Facebook Traffic

Once you get your store up and ready, it’s time for you to get traffic to it! And one of dropshipping favorites isss Facebook!

You will get a total of 10 hours worth of lesson on Facebook here, from setting up the basics like your Facebook Ad Accounts to scaling your Facebook Ads campaigns.

It’s all being covered here.

I have to warn you guys though that Franklin’s approach on Facebook ads is a bit different than other dropshipping “gurus” so if you’ve been following the other “gurus”, you might find this a bit weird.

But that doesn’t mean one way is better than the other. So just try Franklin’s approach and see whether it works out for you or not.

Module 5: Instagram Traffic

You will learn how to reach out to influencers here – this is a technique that I’ve learned from Franklin years ago. He actually also shares tips to be the influencers on his YouTube channel too by the way.

But apart from reaching out to influencers, you will also learn how to run Instagram ads and how to get your followers forever engaged.

I personally don’t ever separate Facebook and Instagram ads. From my 6 years of experience running Facebook Ads, Facebook is actually pretty smart in getting the right audience to your business – no matter whether it’s on Facebook or Instagram, or Audience Network.

Module 6: SEO

It’s pretty cool for Franklin to teach this here too with the course’s low price point. A lot of other dropshipping courses don’t even think of including SEO as part of their lessons.

So hats off to Franklin….

But it isn’t exactly the most in-depth SEO lessons. It’s only about an hour long video.

If you are planning to invest more time in SEO, you will probably need to invest more time in content marketing for your store. Neil Patel has an SEO course for eCommerce business – which is free, and you probably want to invest your time learning that part as well to constantly rank on SERP (search engine results page).

Module 7: Email marketing

Email marketing is a must nowadays to add on to any dropshipping courses because your email list IS your asset.

So spending more time building leads and automating your email marketing is a foundation to a more sustainable store.

And here, Franklin will teach you how to design your landing page to get your leads and making sure you are not doing any common mistakes when it comes to email marketing.

Module 8: Business and Sales

Once your business has grown, you will want to start hiring VA (virtual assistant) to help you with some of the everyday processes that can take up your time.

And this is where you will learn how to hire them and reflect upon setting your business goals and finances.

Module 9: Top Secret Videos

I personally don’t think those secrets are ground-breaking, I’ve watched Franklin and other YouTubers give out the same advice on how to increase your store’s conversions.

But if you’re a beginner, you can learn a few things here without going over free content on YouTube.

Some of the tips you will learn include giving warranties, offering coupons and spying your competitors on Facebook.

Module 10: Lifetime Updates

Like anything on the internet, everything will change with time. Like how Instagram has taken control over our lives??

Joke aside, this is where you will get to learn any changes that Facebook, Shopify, and other platforms that he has mentioned in the course have done, so you will be able to keep up with their new algorithms or policies.

It’s important to always go back to this module because Facebook Ad is always changing 😊

Module 11: Video Request

This is where Franklin answers some of the students’ questions. You can also request an answer if you think Franklin hasn’t covered in the course.

This is pretty awesome to have. I have been in a community where the founders will diligently answer questions using screencasted videos and it’s an amazing service to have.

Module 12: Weekly Videos

If you want supplementary training, this is where the Q&A section can come in handy.

It doesn’t necessarily fit into the modules above, it can be of very wide range of topics. But these videos are coming from questions that students have been asking. They are not as detailed as the video request module though.

Is Ecom Elites A Scam?

No, Ecom Elites isn’t a scam.

It’s a dropshipping course that you can buy and get the lessons that you pay for. It is a course that can help guide you in starting your dropshipping business.

If you’re not ready to buy the course, you can always go back to Franklin’s blog or YouTube channel and absorb his free content. This can be a good idea to do too to see whether you vibe with his style of teaching.

That said though, there are some claims made by Franklin in the video on his sales page that I just would like to clarify:

a) Yes, many of his students have gotten a lot of good results. I was one of his students before and I did make some money. But, there is no profit number shown. Or any of the students’ results sharing the profits they have made.

It is very common for you to only make 1-25% profit, depending on how much it takes for you to understand Facebook Ads and algorithms.

b) Starting Facebook ads for the price of a $5 coffee.

Yes, $5 per adset. If you’re running 10 adsets for 3 different products/campaigns = at least $30 a day. Not so much $5.

And this is only on the testing side. We haven’t gone to the scaling side just yet.

What I Like About Ecom Elites

ecom elites online dimes - Is Ecom Elites A Scam? Franklin Hatchett Course Review 2021

1) Franklin Is Really Active

One thing for sure when it comes to Franklin is that he helps. Even when you join his free Facebook group (I did last time), you can get a bunch of your questions answered there and he’s more than willing to share new tips that he got.

So I’m sure as a paid student, it’ll be much easier to reach out to him – which is always a plus.

2) Value for Money

A lot of the more expensive dropshipping courses that I have reviewed don’t even give out this many in-depth lessons.

This is probably the best value-for-money dropshipping courses that you can get out there.

What I DON’T Like About Ecom Elites

Not a very big one because it seems like every dropshipping courses do this – but I wish Franklin could give a better disclaimer when stating all of his students’ results.

Those results are mainly sales number – you can get $100,000 sales in one day while still being in the negative.

I’m just not a fan of the claims he made – read the above section.

Is Dropshipping Still Worth It?

1) Only When You Have Capital

Dropshipping is really NOT for someone who are strapped with money. There are so many other expenses that you will need to pay such as:

– Shopify
– Domain name
– Transaction Fee
– Facebook Ads
– Instagram Influencer
– Additional paid apps
– Outsourcing

So unless you have at least $2,500 to spare to start this business model, dropshipping unfortunately is not for you. You’ll be spending at least $2,000 to get started – and that won’t even guarantee any sales coming in.

2) Not The Best Business Model

As I’ve mentioned in 2021, dropshipping isn’t exactly the best business model out there. A lot of people already know the trick of “free product + shipping” and asking them to wait for 2-3 weeks for product delivery is a deal-breaker.

Put yourself in the customer shoe, will you go and buy a product from a store that will take 2-3 weeks to ship the products to you or you’d rather go to Amazon.com and get your products delivered the next day?

I’d go with Amazon.com. And that brings me to the next point.

A Better Way To Make Money

After I left dropshipping, I found a better way to make money online that is a lot more passive and won’t need me to fork out so much capital when first starting out.

I really wish I’d found this sooner.

I switched from doing a dropshipping business to affiliate marketing.

Simply because;

– it was free for me to get started
– I don’t need to be running ads all the time
– my traffic is organic, therefore a lot more sustainable
– I don’t need to handle refunds or customer service
– it’s much easier for me to do with a 9-5 job

See how a stay-at-home-mum student from my #1 recommended training platform was able to make $2K from her new website with a new affiliate offer.

We both went through the same training and you will too!

But if you want to do it too and get free training, here’s my FREE 7-day training where I’ll take you step by step on what to do each day.

  1. Thanks for the detailed review.

I didn’t know much about dropshipping but had heard other people talking about it and some of them even recommended it as a great way to make a living.

After reading your review, I’m beginning to think that it is not as great or as easy as they have made it out to be….. especially if you can make $100,000 sales in one day and still be in the negative because I imagine that it would have taken a lot of work to be able to generate that amount of sales in a day.

So this brings me to my conclusion. Even though Ecom-elites is legit, it’s not for me, because of the $2000 + entry cost, the huge amount of learning I would need to do to set everything up, and the low returns received from items sold.

I wish others who choose to go down this road all the best.
I’ll stick with Affiliate marketing for now.
    Cheers.

    • Hey Andrew, that’s exactly the reason why I stopped dropshipping.
You can definitely spend $100K in ad spend and be making $90K sales – and you are still in the negative even though you can show the flashy $90k sales to people.

I applaud you for doing your research first before joining the course and all the best too in your affiliate marketing journey 🙂

  2. Hi Wina,

This is a really interesting article. I don’t have a drop shipping business but I think the training modules would really help me in my online business. It is not too expensive and from what you have described in your review, Ecom Elites does not seem like a scam at all.

I will let you know if I invest in this programme and I will give my own review when I have eventually been through the modules.

Thank you for sharing and keep up the great work with your reviews.

    Stay safe and well.

    All the best,

    Tom
